Whitelab
5-point insulin resistance test

Disorders of sugar balance – with the exception of type I diabetes – develop over a long period of time. In such cases, a fasting blood sugar level or a fasting insulin level cannot reveal the abnormal condition and does not identify the increased risk of the disease.

So, during a dynamic test, when we observe the sugar balance in action, we can get a more accurate, more layered, more detailed picture.

The more times we record the blood sugar and insulin levels during the 120-minute exercise, the more informative our results will be. The two most important values are the glucose and insulin levels measured after 0 and 120 minutes. The diagnosis of insulin resistance can be established from these two measurements, however, during the 5-point exercise test, we measure the two test points every 30 minutes
parameter (0-30-60-90-120 minutes), so we can get the most detailed picture of the condition of the pancreas.

If you have a lean or muscular body, we strongly recommend that you choose the 5-point test.

It is important to point out that at Whitelab, we do not only register blood sugar levels, but also test insulin values at every sampling occasion. With this, we can get a complex picture of the health or disorder of the functioning of the sugar household.

The glucose solution is provided by Whitelab to all of its patients.

We start the test with a hunger test. Please arrive after 10-12 hours of fasting (i.e. on an empty stomach).

Since we are going to load your sugar levels, a quick fingertip test is necessary. If the fasting blood sugar level is abnormally high, we do not load it, we do not perform the test!

The beginning of the load begins with the consumption of the glucose solution (75 mg of glucose dissolved in 2.5 dl of drinking water). Drinking the solution should not take longer than 5 minutes!

The exact course of the examination:

  1. POC blood sugar determination
  2. first blood test
  3. load – drinking sugar solution
  4. 30 minute wait
  5. second blood test – 30 minutes
  6. 30 minutes of waiting
  7. third blood test – 60 minutes
  8. 30 minute wait
  9. fourth blood test – 90 minutes
  10. 30 minutes of waiting
  11. fifth blood sampling – 120 minutes

Important!

  • If possible, the days before the examination (2-3 days) should be spent in an average physical activity
    with activity!
  • Stop any diet that is less than 150 grams before the test
it only makes it possible to consume carbohydrates!
  • Do not eat any food in the 10-12 hours immediately before the examination,
however, you can drink plenty of water!
  • During the examination (120 minutes), do not perform any activity involving serious physical strain,
    and don’t smoke!
  • Postponement of the examination if there is an acute illness (e.g. cold, diarrhea, etc.).
recommended. It can be done after healing.

During this exercise test, blood is taken 5 times in a 120-minute time interval. 30 minutes pass between samplings. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the time of the next blood draw and notify the blood draw assistant by knocking!
