The COVID PCR test is the highest sensitivity test, during which the nucleic acid (RNA) characteristic of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is detected with high specificity using a molecular biological method. It is recommended to carry out this PCR test if there is an upper respiratory infection and, in particular, a suspicion of SARS-Cov-2 virus infection, based on symptoms suggestive of covid disease (fever, depression, joint or muscle pain, headache, cough, sore throat, stuffy nose), and/or has been in contact with a confirmed person infected with covid virus.

It is recommended to perform the COVID PCR test if there is a suspicion of infection based on symptoms suggestive of the coronavirus disease and/or if you have been in contact with a confirmed covid-infected person. If this early test was performed in an asymptomatic case and the result is negative, it is worth repeating the PCR test within 48 hours. It is also recommended for travel, before and after hospital treatment, or if upper respiratory symptoms are unclear.
